Things are slowly wrapping up on the mechanisms for the doors. I am still waiting for the PlaneAround gas strut brackets to get modified to support the aftermarket Heavy Duty 600 newton gas struts I am going to use. So in the mean time the doors still do not hold themselves open.
I glued in a few replacement pieces into the door shells to cover holes that were opened for installation. These will get epoxied over and smoothed with the rest of the door and will never been seen once fixed. I also installed the door lock cylinders. with some proseal behind the lock head to weather proof it and help secure it in place. I also trimmed the excess epoxy I left in the holes to better contour to the lock shape. I then threaded the rear lock nut in place with some lock tight. This should hold the lock pretty tight.
Short of adding the lock latches and drilling the door strut brackets, the doors are ready to be taken off and prepped for painting along with the top.
I moved to the tail section and started working on a mount for the oxygen tank. I am going to use the Mountain High Oxygen system. The kevlar tank will sit in the rear of the plane and will feed to all four seats. I cut some angle and match drilled into the left side J-Channel. I also cut a 8″x14″ piece of .062″ sheet metal. The sheet will be match drilled to the angle and then the mounting bands/rings for the tank will be attached to the sheet.
