Yesterday I was able to get a little time in on the plane after we found out the Arrow had a broken Directional Gyro and we of course wouldnt be able to fly IFR to Astoria for lunch as planned. But we did get Tricia over to Vans to finally see the RV10 in person and sit inside. Amazing she has been so supportive of this so far but hasn’t actually seen one inside for herself. She was very impressed and is that much more eager to get the project completed and into the air!
While at the airport I picked up the keys to the hangar that I will be using to store my wings when they are finished in a few weeks. It’s not my long term hanger, but it feels good to have my own little slice of space at the airport. Change is coming!
So yesterday I got the initial portion of the Ailerons put together. These are the leading edges of the ailerons and will spend most of their time tightly tucked behind the trailing edge of the wing. The skins will be attached behind this structure and will be the actual surface that will protrude into the airstream to raise/lower the wing (and consequently turn the plane). It’s nice to be working on smaller structures, a lack of sealant and simple assembly makes the steps proceed much faster than what I’ve been working on for the last month.
I also got word that the fuel senders are scheduled to be delivered today. So I should be able to get those sealed up soon, let the tanks cure and test them next week I hope. Hopefully they will be leak free and ready to mount on the wings.
